The client had already signed up for Microsoft Dynamics CRM on their own and was using it to manage and track post-sale processes,
including order, delivery and payment status.
Their challenge had two sides:
- They needed detailed reports in order to analyse their sales in-depth. They had tried to create those reports themselves, but without advanced
report writing skills, they had struggled.
- Importing CSV files from the website into Dynamics CRM was becoming increasingly difficult and time consuming as the business's sales were growing
rapidly.
In conclusion, the client needed a simple way to create informative reports, while keeping track of the businesses changes in sales.
Working together with the client, we first created mock-ups in Excel of the detailed sales reports that might be required.
This allowed the client to visualise each report, identify similar reports, and ultimately define the set of reports for us to create. By the end of the
project we had created over thirty reports for the client, which entailed a detailed analysis of their sales by customer, customer type, key accounts,
products, product categories, sales person, territory, margin and profit.
For the client’s second challenge, we created a
standalone data import tool that was used to pull the necessary customer data and orders from the website and push it into Dynamics CRM. Overall, we were
able to turn the import process from a daily ordeal using Excel, into to a simple point and click exercise.
