What is the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2008?
The Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2008 (formerly BDD 2007) contains best practice guidance, sample templates, and technology
files (such as scripts and configuration files) for deploying Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows
Server 2008 and Microsoft Office. Organizations generally use the toolkit to:
- Set up an image creation and management process prior to beginning a deployment.
- Test for application compatibility if they are deploying a new operating system, in order to ensure that their existing Applications will work on the new OS.
- Deploy the images (and Applications) as part of a rollout project.
- Provide a Business-As-Usual (BAU) imaging & deployment service after the rollout has been completed.
